Wannsee Conference

On 20 January 1942 a conference was held in a villa at Wannsee, Berlin, attended by  SS [Schutz Staffel] officers or officials to discuss "The final solution of the Jewish Question" or in abbreviated German "Endlösung".

The meeting was convened by the head of the German security police, Reinhard Heydrich, and at that modest villa the fate of Europe's approximately 11 million Jews was decided.  They would all be gather in transit camps in eastern Europe: those who could work were to be used as slave labourers and those who could not work were to be exterminated.

Today the building houses a museum and Memorial.
